Native butterflies awaken in winter sunshine

A record four species of native butterflies were spotted in the garden here today in the middle of winter!  Comma, Red Admiral, Peacock and Tortoiseshell were all seen nectaring on a flowering Viburnum bodnantense; the sunny weather no doubt bringing them our of their winter slumber.  Red admirals were seen last year around the same time so they are now regularly overwintering here in this part of Wales. See here for a picture and more details.
